HighBall Intro: Carmen Owens
Being co-owner of the Surly Girl Saloon along with fellow Surly Girls, Liz Lessner and Marcy Mays, Carmen Owens (she’s on the far right there, sneering behind a skull) knows it takes teamwork to make great things happen. That’s why she’s co-chairing the HighBall with an emphasis on the all-important food and drink aspect. That makes sense, too, since Surly Girl Saloon is known for their fantastic comfort food with a twist (and their Western-style but more decor).
What’s your favorite kind of Halloween candy?
Anything involving chocolate
Least favorite Halloween candy?
Anything that tastes like anise
What was your best ever Halloween costume?
Medusa, but this year’s is going to be pretty darn good
Which celebrity costume do you hope you DON’T see this year?
Palin…..ugh.
What part of the HighBall are you most excited about and why?
Seeing how everything comes together in our first year
If you have a pet, do you dress it up for Halloween?
No, but my one-eyed cat already looks like a pirate and my fattest cat looks like an ottoman

That Medusa costume, thanks to Carmen and Marcy is available for viewing on the good looking guy in the window at Mary Catherine’s next door.
I am hearing rumblings of an earthshaking Halloween facade at Surly Girl. Can’t wait to see that!!

I’ve heard of shrunken heads, but never enlarged skulls. Yowza!
